Long weekend ending (well, actually it was just two days, but I haven't had two days off in a row forever. It's amazing how long it feels), wine poured, hummus and naan on the table and this on the ITunes. Perfection.

Country Mood

Maybe because it's simple, usually a bit slower and on a down beat, but I am loving my country mood lately. A little Wolf as I get ready in the morning, and The Highway in the car to and from work. I've even added more of it to the store list. I found myself loving a new Dolly song today - and she is definitely country.

I think it makes me slow down. I think it just makes me smile. I am loving my country mood.

Possibly the best song ever. I first heard it in a commercial, which was also brilliant. Those Chivas commercials are such amazing aspirational lifestyle moments. I've watched them with my friends in the south who look at it as an actual aspirational life. But I feel like I'm looking at my old roommates and friends in NYC when I watch that commercial.

My little secret

I have a vice from my past that is resurfacing as of late. It's not something everyone approves of, nor has even...we'll say enjoyed. I've had friends unhappy with my choice and definitely attempt to persuade me in a different direction. It might not be something I run around and proclaim, but I enjoy it.

And seriously, until you've been exhausted on a Saturday night and need something to pep you up, don't judge me. It's been very good to me in the past. I've been known to dance around the living room on a couch, stay up all night having chats with friends, even dance literally all night, possibly on top of the bar. This, my friends, is nothing but a happy, peppy vice. All nay-sayers can just shut it.

I actually may promote my vice to the world. Seriously? Yes, seriously. Shut your trap until you've taken part yourself. That's right. I dare you.

Next time you're sitting alone and your friends are all out waiting on you, but you have less than zero energy to get there, I will share my fairly non-addicting habit with you. Crank up some techno and, viola. There you have it - techno. Nothing will get you moving and shaking, pep you up for the night and keep you going until dawn like techno.

You know you love it and totally jam out in the car when no one else is around.

This playlist is good for a quiet night with the girls, a bottle of wine and great conversation; a romantic dinner for two needing a soundtrack; a good book in bed; blogging on a rainy day; or one of those nights you already know you want to cry and feel bad about life and just need a little nudge.

It makes me want to sit on the couch, drink wine, paint my nails black and call all my best girl friends to feel warm and fuzzy. But there's a boy inhabiting my couch having a relationship with the History Channel. I'm in the kitchen with my wine and my playlist.

I used to be a singer. I bought Broadway CDs and sang along in the car. I dreamed of the day I'd be on stage. I'm still in love with music, but it's been almost dumbed down by the radio.

I'm sitting here watching last week's Glee and could cry at how amazing the duet with the teacher and Kristen Chenowith is. She is ridiculous to begin with, but the quality of the vocal, the emotion, the song. It's amazing! And the best part is inspiring.

Now I want a glass of wine.
